about

"The Soul of a Machine" is a solo-project of Mauno Tuominen from Sigma and ”Secret Life of Electronics” is an tribute to all machines of 70’s and 80’s. Analog synthesizers are one example of this genre. Chenrizig Tibetan Buddha is silkscreened on Prophet Pro-1 synths circuit board. This shows that these old synths are build with love and care. Electronic engineers have transferred there souls to these great machines. R.A. Moog is one great example of this dedication, creativity and innovation of that time.

HAL-computer from Stanley Kubricks “2001 Space Odyssey” is another example of our dream to transfer human soul to an machine. That dream is today a lot closer than in 1968 but the road is long and sure has unexpected twists.

Tompkins and Bird saw spirituality in plants in their book “The Secret Life of Plants” 1974. We can see spirituality in everywhere and I believe these old synthesizers have a soul; The Soul of a Machine.
